So if I made a comic starting Fotia and Happy Pony in a modern world (meaning work cars) would it be better for me to make the cat-pons or essentially elves, angles, humans and angle elves (witch would work the same when it comes to magic)

If I did the cat-pons, I would bet constantly working to prevent IP infringement, and if I did the other option, there would be a few things that I would not be able to do, but are not essential to the story I have in mind.

Also, if I made this comic, it would have no IP from Hasbro (meaning none of the names, locations, charters, stories, or branding from products made by Hasbro, including MLP) or any other legal entity unless the use is protected under fair use. (Trade marks, such as characters, fictional locations, and the name of a show, never fall under fair use, so I would need explicit permission from Hasbro to have a character from the show in the comic.)
The reasoning is because I intend to promote and sell this comic, and I don't want to risk a cease and decist order from Hasbro, and I especially want to eliminate any risk of a suit (witch is high when it comes to trade mark infringement)
